What do you love about the neighborhood?: Great neighbors in a quiet part of a small town. The sunsets reflect off the lake. Nature is all abound with tall pines trees and a clear lake to boat and fish on. We have enjoyed water sports and excellent swimming throughout the lake. The 4th of July boat parade is a fun annual boat parade that is hosted by the Birch Lake Association. The Association has a lot of active members who truly care about keeping the lake pristine

What are some great things about your city?: One of the many things which a new owner will enjoy are a path bike and walking trails very nearby the home. The main part of town is an easy walk along the lake. Every year there is a chainsaw competition which is fun for the entire family. Tennis courts are a short walk away. Deep Portage Nature Reserve is yet another oasis for nature lovers. Walking and ski trails as well as educational activities and the famous Deep Portage rendezvous in January is yet another exciting event Back to Hack is a winter event in the heart of Hackensack which draws the community together in January for a large city campfire. There is also a 4 screen movie theater within a mile of the home. This is great for those rainy cabin days in the spring and cold wintry days.

What restaurants are nearby?: There are several great restaurants within walking distance. There are pizza places, steak houses and even a Thai eat in or take out.

What grocery stores or nearby shopping is there?: There is one main market less than a 10 min walk from your new home. They are locally owned and support the local community. There is a local co-op with has an amazing selection of spices and cheeses. The local shops and BBQ hut and Ice cream shoppe all come to life in the summer months.

What do you do for interests and hobbies near the property?: We love to take the kids on the bike trails and walk the dog to the main part of town. There are two tennis courts where we have spent many hours playing tennis. Kayaking, boating, tubing, skiing, fishing in the daytime and campfires while watching sunsets with the neighbors are a frequent affair

Tell us about any additional property highlights, upgrades, recent updates that have been done: The home was completely remodeled in 2008/9. Updates include, new roof, all new log siding, new blown insulation, new windows, new master bedroom and bathroom. Updated electrical wiring and new HVAC system. New wireless thermostat New main sewage system in 2017. Additional sunroom was added along with a custom kitchen with granite countertops and center island. All new appliances - stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, water softener and even a garbage disposer. New maintenance free deck was added in 2008. All in all there is more than $170,000 of upgrades. New $8000 dock will stay with the cabin.

Key points about the house that we were drawn to when we first looked at the home: The up north woods and cabin feel. The peace and quiet and serenity of this location on the lake, despite its proximity to all the city amenities is quite surprising. The home itself was remodeled so that it still had the cabin feel but with all the modern amenities that one enjoys.
